This is a series of seminars created by Angie in which history is taught and discussed through integrating the secular and the Biblical/Christian perspective while discerning God’s story. We look at some interesting things that can be learned when we observe with eyes of faith. Have you ever wondered how history class relates to God, His story, current events, and you? Part 1 – HIStory Through the Eyes of Faith starts with Creation and ends just before the birth of Jesus. The primary source for this section is the Bible with much historical information brought in from other resources. This is a great overview of the Old Testament and lays the foundation for the grand narrative of Scripture and the arrival of Jesus Christ.
Part 2 – HIStory Through the Eyes of Faith starts with the Birth of Christ and ends around the year 1000 AD. There is lots of good information and discussion on the arrival and earthly life of Jesus, the early church, and the church’s role in shaping our civilization as well as many influential and formative events of this time period in this section.
Part 3 – HIStory Through the Eyes of Faith begins around the year 1000 AD. and journeys all the way to 1650 (or so) AD. In this section we explore the the events and changes God uses to move history forward as we cover the late Middle Ages, Rennaisance, Reformation, and their aftermath.
Part 4 – HIStory Through the Eyes of Faith begins around 1650 AD and carries us up to the present. This section is an exploration of God’s hand at work as we move into modern history and review and discuss the events and movements that have made us who we are today. After studying the major threads that have come before we can better discern our role in the present.
Each part consists of 8 lessons each of which is about 1.25 hours in length. We offer them as weekly lessons for 8 weeks or over a weekend setting or whatever creative arrangement works for you and/or your group. In person or virtual.
